CHIME - DC-T01

CHIME - DC-T01

SKU: DC-T01

Brand: LUMIFARO

Your doorbell only works as well as the little transformer hiding in the basement — and when that transformer gives up, the chime goes silent or buzzes weakly at the door. The LUMIFARO DC-T01 is the fix: a compact doorbell transformer, also searched as a chime transformer, door chime power supply or low voltage bell transformer. It takes your line voltage and steps it down to the safe low voltage your door chime and push buttons need, so the ding-dong rings clear and strong every single time somebody arrives at the front door, the side door or the shop entrance.

This is a Class 2 transformer rated at 16 volts and 10 watts, which is exactly the kind of clean, steady low voltage output a mechanical or electronic door chime is looking for. Class 2 means a safe, current-limited output, so the small-gauge bell wire running through your walls stays worry-free. Installation is straightforward and spelled out in the spec sheet: mount the push buttons and run the low voltage 12 V wire as shown in the diagram, position the door chime where you want to hear it, shut off the power, install the transformer, make your electrical connections, then turn the power back on. Its small footprint lets it tuck into a junction box area, a mechanical room or a panel space without stealing room from anything else.

It belongs in a single-family home, a duplex, a cottage, a condo entry, a dental clinic, a hair salon, a corner store, a warehouse office or any small business where staff need to hear someone at the door. Contractors keep a doorbell transformer like the DC-T01 on the truck because a dead one is one of the most common service calls of a Canadian winter, when cold, damp entryways and aging wiring finally take their toll. Pair it with a new chime and fresh push buttons and you get a front entrance that sounds brand new. Check the technical PDF in the Documentation tab for the wiring diagram, then add the DC-T01 to your project list.

What it is and what it does
The DC-T01 is the power heart of a doorbell system. A door chime does not run on line voltage — it runs on low voltage, and something has to make that conversion safely and continuously, year after year, because a doorbell transformer is energized around the clock. That is the whole job of this chime transformer: quietly stepping voltage down so the push button at the door closes a tiny circuit and the chime inside rings at full volume. Because it is a Class 2 device, the output side is inherently limited, which is why doorbell wiring can be run in small gauge without conduit in typical residential work.

Technical specifications
Model: DC-T01
Brand: LUMIFARO
Type: Transformer
Class: Class 2
Output voltage: 16 volts
Power: 10 watts
Wiring: low voltage 12 V wire to the push buttons, as shown in the diagram

Installation, step by step
The spec sheet lays out a sequence any electrician or confident DIYer will recognize. First, mount the push buttons at the doors and run the low voltage 12 V wire following the diagram — plan your runs before you close up walls, and leave a little slack at each end for future service. Second, position the door chime where the sound carries best: a hallway, a stairwell landing or a central spot rather than behind a closed door. Third, cut the power at the panel. Fourth, install the transformer at its mounting location and make the electrical connections. Finally, restore power and test both buttons. If a chime sounds weak or hums, the cause is very often an undersized or failing transformer, not the chime itself — which is exactly why a proper 16 volts, 10 watts unit matters.

Where it earns its keep
Think of every door people knock on: a bungalow front entry, a semi-detached side door, a rental unit, a garage door leading into the house, a cottage porch, but also small commercial spaces — a physio clinic reception, a tattoo studio, a back delivery door in a bakery, a small warehouse office where the team can't hear the loading dock. In new construction, the transformer goes in during rough-in with the low voltage runs. In a renovation, it is often a same-day swap that instantly restores a door chime everyone had given up on. Contractors appreciate that a compact Class 2 power supply like this one fits neatly into the mechanical space alongside the other low voltage gear.

Documentation and support
The Documentation tab holds the technical PDF for the DC-T01, including the technical specifications and the installation steps with the wiring diagram reference — print it and keep it with the job file so the next person servicing the entrance knows exactly what is behind the wall. Whether you are wiring one home or specifying entrance hardware for a series of units, this transformer keeps the doorbell portion of the job simple, safe and predictable.
