Built to bend, built to last
The Canolight 640 is an extruded aluminum profile engineered for one job: carrying an LED strip smoothly around a curve. The extrusion can be shaped manually on site, so a single 8ft length can follow the radius of an arched ceiling, a rounded island, a column wrap or a piece of curved millwork. Because you are not cutting and splicing at every change of direction, you avoid the dark gaps, mismatched joints and extra connectors that make curved installs look improvised. The silver finish is neutral enough to disappear into most ceilings, coves and cabinetry, or to read as a deliberate architectural line when it is left exposed.
Up and down light in one channel
The defining feature of the 640 is its up-down light direction. Mounted on a wall or a vertical face, it throws light upward and downward at the same time, creating the double wash that designers use for drama in lobbies, corridors and feature walls. Combined with the PC (polycarbonate) cover, the effect is soft and continuous: the diffuser hides the individual diodes, removes hot spots and turns a row of LEDs into one clean band of light. That matters most in spaces where people look directly at the fixture — bars, retail displays, reception areas and stairwells.

Thermal management and installation
Heat is what shortens the life of an LED tape, and the aluminum body of the 640 acts as a passive heat sink, drawing thermal energy away from the strip and holding it at a more stable operating temperature. Over a long run, that translates into steadier lumen output and fewer service calls — a real advantage on commercial jobs and on long residential coves. On site, work the curve gradually and evenly rather than in one sharp move, clean the mounting surface before applying the strip's adhesive, set your LED channel so the strip sits flat on the base for full contact with the aluminum, then snap on the PC cover and finish each end with the supplied end caps. Leave yourself access to the feed end for the driver connection and keep strip splices to a minimum along the bent section.
Applications and documentation
Think curved reception desks in an office fit-up, a rounded bulkhead over a restaurant bar, a spiral stair in a custom home, circular columns in a hotel lobby, or wave-shaped ceiling details in a retail store. The CL-Alu-640-SL also works for straight runs when you simply want an up-down effect, so a single profile can serve an entire project. Pair it with the LED strip, driver, connectors and mounting hardware that suit your wattage and colour temperature, and confirm the strip width against the channel before ordering.
