Built to clip on and stay putThe SKYE Select trim is made of
durable dead-front plastic with a magnetic steel ring. That steel ring is the whole trick: you simply bring the trim up to the fixture and it
magnetically attaches to compatible 4" SKYE fixtures, self-centering as it lands. There are no tools, no springs to hook, no fingerprints on fresh paint. Because nothing is screwed in, the trim also comes off just as easily — handy when a unit is being repainted, when a homeowner wants a seasonal change, or when a designer asks to see two finishes side by side before committing. Available in a variety of trim and baffle colour combinations, the family covers both
round and
square apertures so one ceiling detail can be carried through an entire home or storefront.
What "dead-front" does for light qualityA
dead-front trim closes off the visible opening of the
recessed downlight, so from normal standing height you see a smooth face rather than the inside of the fixture. The result is a calmer ceiling and a more comfortable viewing angle, especially in open-concept spaces where you see dozens of apertures at once from the sofa or the dining table. The baffle finish shapes the character of the beam opening: a matte baffle keeps things quiet and discreet, while semi-specular, specular and gold baffles add depth and a subtle reflected warmth around the aperture. Choosing the trim finish and baffle finish separately is what lets you match ceiling colour on the outside while tuning the look inside the cone.

Compatibility and installationThis is an
accessory sold separately, not a complete light — it needs a compatible 4" SKYE fixture underneath. The spec sheet lists
SLMB4-CCT, the 4" SLIMLED 12W colour-selectable downlight, and
SLMB4-RGBTW, the 4" SLIMLED 12W RGB + tunable white downlight. In the catalogue that means
Skye 4" color selectable SLMB4-12W-CCT-WH,
Skye 4" color selectable SLMB4-12W-CCT-BK,
Skye OnCloud SLMB4-RGBTW-WH-4KT and
Skye OnCloud SLMB4-RGBTW-WZ-WH. Installation is the last step of the job: set and connect the fixture, finish the ceiling, then present the trim to the aperture and let the magnet take it. Order one trim per fixture, and keep a spare or two in the truck for damaged or discoloured units on service calls.
Where it earns its keep, and what's in the Documentation tabBecause it is
suitable for wet locations and rated indoor / outdoor, this trim follows your 4" downlights from the kitchen ceiling to the bathroom, the laundry room, a covered patio or a soffit run along the front of the house — real Canadian conditions where snow, spray and humidity are part of the deal. Commercially, it tidies up corridors, fitting rooms, reception areas, restaurants and clinic exam rooms where a uniform ceiling reads as quality. Mix finishes deliberately: a black trim over a kitchen island, white trims through the rest of the main floor. Other combinations in the same family include
Skye Select trims SLMB4-12W-RT-BKBG and
Skye Select trims SLMB4-12W-RT-BKSS. The full
