Built to last, built to disappear into the ceilingThe SKYE 4" is built around a durable airtight aluminum body finished in UV stable paint, so the white stays white instead of yellowing over the years. A white PMMA diffuser lens softens the output for low glare, and a silicone gasket seals the fixture for wet location applications. The included white interchangeable magnetic trim snaps on and off without tools — handy when a client changes their mind or when you want to protect the trim during painting. Two spring loaded clips grip any ceiling material, and with a compact profile (4¾" / 121 mm overall diameter, 2 3/8" / 60 mm and 4 5/16" / 109 mm dimensions shown on the spec sheet), it slips into tight joist bays where a traditional housing simply won't go.
Light quality you can actually seeThis general application downlight uses a 12 W LED module that maintains uniform intensity across the lens. The front facing 5 step colour selectable switch gives you five colour temperatures —
2700 K, 3000 K, 3500 K, 4000 K and 5000 K — with matching output of 900, 915, 960, 975 and 980 lumens. Choose 2700 K or 3000 K for warm living rooms and bedrooms, 3500 K for kitchens and hallways, 4000 K or 5000 K for garages, workshops and commercial spaces. A typical
CRI of 95 is a big step above ordinary downlights: colours, artwork and finishes read true. The 75° beam spread spaces well for general ambient lighting, and efficacy reaches up to 90 lumens per watt.
Wiring, dimming and cold-weather performanceThe extruded aluminum hardwire box holds a dimmable class II electronic LED driver (210 mA, 300 mA or 370 mA) with 100-135V AC input, and includes an 18" plenum rated FT6 wire with a DC 2.1 connector from driver to fixture. "Quick connect" push-in terminals make wiring fast on a long run of
recessed pot lights. Dimming goes from 100% to 10% with standard forward/reverse phase TRIAC/ELV dimmers, power factor is 0.95, and start-up temperature is rated to -40°C (-40°F) — real Canadian performance for soffits, porches and unheated garages. The fixture is suitable for insulated ceilings and has been tested with insulation up to R60; a vapour barrier extender is recommended in spray foam and loose fill applications.

Compatibility, projects and documentationBecause the trim is magnetic, one fixture covers every design direction: keep the white trim included, or switch to
black,
brushed nickel or
oil rubbed bronze, and use the SKYE Select dead-front trims such as
black with semi-specular baffle for a two-tone professional trim and baffle finish. Prefer the same downlight with a black trim out of the box? See the
SKYE 4" colour selectable in black. Think in terms of real projects: a kitchen on 3500 K over the counters, a bathroom on 3000 K, a covered deck on 4000 K, an open-plan basement or a small retail floor where the same 4" aperture repeats from room to room.
