Why use a bushing
When conductors are pulled into a box through a threaded conduit or connector, the metal edge of the fitting can scrape or cut the insulation, especially on longer pulls or when several wires go in together. The ED-PBT-050 plastic bushing threads onto that end inside the enclosure and replaces the bare metal edge with a smooth, rounded plastic surface. It is a 1/2 in bushing sold in a bag of 10, made for residential and commercial projects, and one of the simplest ways to protect the wiring you just installed.
What it fits
This bushing is for 1/2 in threaded ends: threaded rigid conduit, the threaded ends of connectors such as EMT, cable, flexible metal and liquid-tight connectors, and the conduit nipples used to join two boxes. You will use it in device boxes, octagon and square boxes, electrical junction boxes for light fixtures, panels, disconnect switches and wireways, and on conduit stubs that end without a box, such as a conduit rising from the ground or passing through a wall. Pair it with a 1/2 in locknut to complete the fitting from the inside.
Installation tips
Turn off the power before working in any box. Install the connector or nipple and tighten its locknut first. Then thread the plastic bushing onto the exposed threads by hand until it seats snugly against the locknut or the box wall; hand tight is usually enough for a plastic part, so avoid forcing it with tools. Pull the conductors only once the bushing is in place. Where the electrical code specifies a bushing type for your conductor size, check that your choice meets it, and have the work done or verified by a licensed electrician.

Everyday examples
A renovator adding a junction box for a new dining room chandelier, an electrician landing several 1/2 in conduits in a subpanel, a maintenance technician finishing a conduit stub behind a commercial refrigerator: each of these jobs is cleaner and safer with a 1/2 in bushing on the fitting. With 10 in the bag, one purchase covers a whole room of boxes or a few service calls. The manufacturer's PDF document is available in the Documentation tab for reference.
