Built for the outdoors, not just tolerated by itThe difference between an indoor strip and a true
outdoor LED strip light is in the jacket. This LUMENSTARLED flexible strip is rated
IP65, so rain, sprinkler spray, snow melt and morning humidity are part of the job description rather than a warranty claim. Its slim profile — W11.5mm x H4mm (W7/16" x H3/16") — tucks into aluminum channels, sign cans, stair nosings, handrail grooves and soffit returns without being seen, and the strip stays flexible enough to follow curves and corners.
Mounting clips are included so you can fasten runs mechanically instead of relying on adhesive alone, which matters a lot on exterior surfaces exposed to freeze-thaw cycles. The rated operating temperature range is
-25~+60°C (-13~140°F).
Light quality you can actually seeWith
60 LEDs per metre of 3528 SMD chips and a 120° beam angle, the emitted line is even and wide — no scalloping on a wall wash, no dotted look through a diffuser. Output is
145 lumens per foot (492 lumens per metre) at
1.5W/ft (4.8W/M), a comfortable accent and task level that draws very little power over a long run. The
5000K daylight-white tone is the right pick for signage, security-adjacent areas, work zones and contemporary architecture, while
CRI >90 renders reds, wood grains, painted metal and printed graphics faithfully — the reason high-CRI tape gets specified for storefronts, hospitality exteriors and display lighting.

Wiring, dimming and installationThis is a
12V DC low-voltage product, so it needs a 12V DC LED driver or transformer sized for the total wattage of your run, with headroom left over. Both ends arrive with a
12" (30cm) wire lead, which makes feeding power from either direction easy and helps you reach a junction box without splicing in the weather. For long installations, feed power from both ends or split the job into multiple circuits to keep brightness even from start to finish. The tape is
dimmable with a suitable 12V PWM or analog dimmer placed on the DC side — ideal for a deck that goes bright for a party and low for a late evening. Keep all connections and the driver in a location suited to their own rating, and secure the strip with the supplied clips at regular intervals.
Where it earns its keep, and what else to look atThink deck rails and stair risers, garden beds, retaining walls, pergolas and gazebos, restaurant patios, hotel entries, illuminated channel letters and light boxes, awnings and covered soffits, boat docks and carports. Contractors like it because one reel covers 16.4' (5M) of clean line with
c UL us Listed credentials and a
5-year warranty behind it. Need a warmer, more residential glow on the same platform? Look at the
