Built for fast, clean installsThe beauty of the
PNP-SENSOR-DS is how little work it asks of you. The magnetic body holds the sensor firmly against the fixture and the plug-and-play connector mates directly with the luminaire's harness — no splicing, no extra junction box, no re-pulling of control wire through a grid ceiling. On a large retrofit that difference adds up fast: a crew can fit dozens of
occupancy sensors in the time a hardwired system would take on a single zone. Installation and connection work must be done with the power off and, as the ORTECH documentation states, by a qualified electrician.
Microwave sensing, not infraredThis is a moving-object sensor working at
5.8GHz, which detects motion through its own radio field rather than body heat. That makes it stable across a wide temperature band and less fussy about air currents or warm surfaces than a basic PIR. Coverage is a full
360° around the fixture, with a detection radius of max. 17 ft. (5.2 m) at a mounting height of up to 13 ft. (4 m). Its high-frequency output is <0.2mW, which the manufacturer compares to one 5000th of the transmission power of a mobile phone or the output of a microwave oven. Note the 15-second warm-up: the first time input power is connected, the light stays on for 15 seconds before going to dimming and normal operation.

DIP switch settings you control on siteTen switches do the programming, no tools or software required: 1 and 2 set sensitivity (detection range can be reduced to fit the space precisely), 3 and 4 set hold time from approx. 10 sec up to a maximum of 15 min, 5 and 6 set the lux threshold, adjustable from approx. 10-50 lux, 7 and 8 set the stand-by light level (0, 10%, 30% or 50%), and 9 and 10 set the stand-by time. The result is
tri-level dimming control: full output on detection, a dimmed stand-by period that warns occupants before shut-off, then off. Any movement during hold time restarts the timer, and every time you change a switch the connected LED light blinks on/off to confirm. Factory defaults are 100% sensitivity, 1 min hold-on, daylight sensor disabled, 10% dimming level and 60 minutes dimming time. With the daylight function enabled, the light will not switch on when natural light is sufficient and regulates its output to maintain the target lux level.
Applications, compatibility and documentsThink classrooms and corridors that empty between periods, warehouse aisles visited a few times an hour, office washrooms, stairwells, storage and mechanical rooms, and retail stockrooms — anywhere lights burn for nobody. This accessory is sold separately and is designed for ORTECH troffer applications; it also appears as the listed motion sensor accessory for the ORTECH 4WA-PG-3CCT+W+S wrap-around, which offers 0-10v dimming. For high bays, canopies, linear high bays and shoe box fixtures, choose the
plug and play sensor for UFO high bays and shoe boxes instead, and pair that model with the
remote for PNP-SENSOR when you prefer wireless programming. The Documentation tab holds the spec sheets and installation manuals, including the 4WA-PG-3CCT+W+S spec sheet with the full
DIP switch tables and the 2X2 troffer manuals in English and French — worth printing for the walk test.
