Built as one continuous line of light
Traditional SMD tape spaces its diodes along the board, so you see a row of bright points and, worse, a repeating pattern of dots reflected on whatever sits above or below the strip. COB (Chip-on-Board) technology mounts the chips directly on the board in a dense, unbroken array and covers them with a continuous phosphor layer. What you see is a solid bar of light. On a strip with 488LED/m, that density is what erases the dots entirely — even at close viewing distance, even behind a clear lens. The flexible PCB measures 8mm wide, so the strip bends along curved coves and bulkheads instead of fighting them, and the adhesive backing holds it in place while you fasten the channel or close up the reveal.
Light quality and output
This SKU is the 5000K version: a bright, daylight-leaning white that keeps whites white and edges crisp. It's the temperature people choose for task lighting over a counter or workbench, for retail and display cases where merchandise needs to look true, for garages and workshops, and for studio and content-creation setups. Output is 750lm/m for 9W/m, a balance that gives you real working light on a single run without overloading a modest driver — and, like all quality LED, it uses a fraction of the energy of halogen or incandescent accent lighting it replaces.

Electrical planning and installation
Running at 24V DC is the practical advantage here: lower current for the same power means less voltage drop along the reel, so brightness stays even from the first metre to the last. Size your LED driver from the 9W/m figure multiplied by the length you actually install, and leave yourself headroom rather than loading a supply to its absolute limit. Cut only at the printed cut marks, solder or use a proper connector at each joint, and feed long installations from both ends or in parallel runs back to the driver rather than daisy-chaining one endless line. Because the rating is IP20, keep it in dry indoor locations — no direct splash, no outdoor exposure, no inside-the-shower applications. Mounting the strip in an aluminum extrusion with a frosted diffuser is strongly recommended: it protects the tape, sinks heat away from the chips, and turns the COB line into a finished architectural detail.
Applications and documentation
Think under-cabinet lighting in a kitchen renovation, a cove detail wrapping a living-room ceiling, shelf lighting in a boutique or wine display, backlit bathroom mirrors, reception desks and bar fronts, stair and hallway guidance light, closet and pantry interiors, or clean linear accents in a condo entryway. Contractors like it for the speed: one reel, one 24V supply, one channel, done. The technical spec sheet (CL-ST-COB-480-9-2420) is available in the Documentation tab of this page with the full family data, including the other colour temperatures offered in the series if your project calls for a warmer tone elsewhere in the same space.
