What a plaster frame actually doesThe
PF314 plaster frame is a rough-in accessory for
super slim LED recessed lighting. It mounts in the ceiling structure before the drywall or plaster is installed, holds the exact position of each fixture, and gives the finisher a clean edge to work to. Instead of guessing where a
pot light will land once the ceiling is closed, you set the frame on the framing, the ceiling material goes up around it, and the opening is already where it belongs — round, square to the room, and consistent from one fixture to the next across a hallway or a whole basement.
The fixture it is made forThe spec sheet lists the plaster frame PF-314 as an available accessory for the FLP3-8W-30K/40K ultra-slim LED recessed light. That
thin LED recessed unit measures 3 1/2'' dia. x 5/8'' H and calls for a 3 1/4'' hole to be drilled, which is the opening the frame is built around. Its integrated junction box measures A: 4 3/4'' / 120 mm, B: 1 1/4'' / 32 mm and C: 2 5/8'' / 67 mm, so plan a little clearance beside the frame for the box and the quick-connect leads.

Wiring, dimming and installation notesInstallation of the ultra-slim fixtures is straightforward: the cable runs from the junction box to the fixture through
quick connect push-in terminals — black wire, white wire, green wire — so there is no fishing of separate drivers above the ceiling. Always close the electrical current before connecting a LED device, otherwise the driver will be affected. On dimming, these ultra-slim LED ceiling lights work with most dimmers; since dimmers generally carry a maximum 150-watt rating for LED units, the manufacturer strongly recommends not exceeding 80% of that capacity to avoid flicker at the low end — for example a maximum of 8 6-inch units (120 watts total) or 13 4-inch units (117 watts total) per dimmer. Splitting a large basement or open kitchen onto two circuits is often the simplest fix.
Where to use it, and what goes with itUse
PF314 plaster frames on new builds and gut renovations: basement family rooms, corridors, bedrooms, kitchens, condo units, offices, dental clinics, boutiques and restaurants where a straight, evenly spaced row of
LED recessed downlights is part of the design. For runs where the fixture sits away from its junction box, add the
FLP-EX6-CCT 6 ft extension, or the
FLP-EX6 6 ft extension for the dim-to-warm models. For retrofit work where an old opening is too large, the
GF-414-WH goof ring covers it cleanly. The
