Built for real jobsite conditions
The CANOLIGHT 8W emergency driver is a two-piece system: a compact metal case measuring 7.4" x 1.5" x 1.14" (mounting centres 7.0") and a separate external lithium battery pack measuring 6.1" x 1.57" (mounting centres 5.67") housing a 7.4 V 2500 mA Li-ion cell. The case is slim enough to sit inside most LED industrial strip light channels or mount on the side of the housing, so the finished install stays tidy in customer-facing and regulated spaces. A 500 mm cable and plug connection link the kit to the test switch and indicator, keeping wiring quick and repeatable from fixture to fixture.
How it works, day to day
While AC power is present, the LED load runs from its normal driver and the emergency driver sits in standby, charging the battery — the indicator LED is lit. When the AC supply fails, the unit detects the outage and switches automatically to emergency mode at a constant 8 W, and the indicator LED goes off. When power returns, the driver reverts to AC operation and begins recharging, and the indicator comes back on. Pressing the illuminated test switch simulates an outage: if the emergency function is normal, the indicator LED turns off. The AC LED driver output in the circuit must not exceed 150 W or 4 A.

Installation and safety notes
Wiring follows the diagram in the spec sheet: AC line and neutral feed both the main LED driver and the emergency kit, and the kit takes over the LED array output on loss of power. Prepare conductors of 0.5-1.5 mm² with 7-8 mm of strip. Do not mate the battery connector until installation is complete and AC power is supplied, observe proper polarity on the accessory leads, and connect the battery to the main unit only when the unit is in operational condition — the polarity reversal protection on the connector is a safeguard, not a substitute for correct wiring. Mounting holes for the accessories are 6.5 mm dia for the separate indicator light, 7 mm dia for the separate test switch and 16 mm dia for the all-in-one test switch and LED indicator, with wire insulation rated 85 °C. The kit is suitable for damp and dry environments and is not intended for luminaires used in high-risk task area lighting.
Where it fits and what's documented
Designed first for the CL-ACC-ST1 series LED strip lights, this kit is also recommended for tri-proof lights, linear lights, wall packs, UFO high bays, troffers and ceiling lights whose driver output falls within 25-48 Vdc. Think warehouse racking aisles, mechanical rooms, underground parking, machine shops, school corridors and retail stockrooms — anywhere an inspector will ask how occupants find the exit during an outage. Retain the standard mains driver, the emergency kit and the battery in the circuit for a maintained emergency fixture; keep only the kit and battery for non-maintained operation. The complete technical PDF (CL-ACC-ST1-EMERGENCY DRIVER-8W Spec Sheet), including dimensions, the wiring diagram and the test switch chart, is available in the Documentation tab.
